New spin on Goody's in Calhoun sets grand opening for Thursday:

Goody'sEarlier this year, the Knoxville-based Goody's chain closed its remaining stores and sold off its assets. Rome, Cartersville and Calhoun all lost local retailers. Specialty Retailers bought the Goody's name and other assets and planned to open a Peebles store in the former Calhoun location (there's a Peebles in LaFayette). But weeks later, company executives opted to bring back the Goody's name at the Ga. 53 and now a grand opening is set for Thursday. The company is opening eight stores now through November with six of them carrying the Goody's name, including Calhoun. But don't look for others in our market, at least yet. Former Goody's locations in Rome and Cartersville remain vacant; there is talk of some activity at the Bartow site> Details
