Chattahoochee Tech sees record enrollment

Chattahoochee Technical College has record breaking Spring enrollment. The latest numbers show that more than 11,000 students have enrolled in classes at Chattahoochee Technical College – a 26.5 percent increase over the same quarter last year. Officials are reporting an enrollment of 11,605 for spring quarter 2010, which began last week. During the same quarter last year, each campus reported a total of 8,931. Spring quarter numbers mark the third increase in a row for the newly merged college, as enrollment has grown from 11,515 during fall 2009 and 11,365 in winter 2010.> Release

-Applied Thermoplastic Resources (ATR) of Cartersville has raised $7,000 for the Haiti Relief Project. Money was raised through employee donations and matching company funds. The money will be donation to the Coosa Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross for their Haiti Relief Fund.

Mt. Berry Square sees increasing sales; future looks brighter as officials hope to bring in more national retailers. The tides are turning at Mount Berry Square Mall as consumer confidence seems to be returning to the marketplace with recent sales figures showing increases at nearly every store. And with the state's net revenue collections from March up 1-percent over last year, it looks like brighter news is on the horizon for our economy.> Buzz

Georgia's Net Revenue Collections for March up over last year; first monthly increase in revenues since November 2008. Gov. Sonny Perdue announced that net revenue collections for the month of March 2010 (FY 2010) totaled $998,239,000 compared to $987,986,000 for March 2009 (FY09), an increase of $10,523,000 or 1.0 percent. This is the first monthly increase in revenues since November 2008.>Figures

According to the National Weather Service, a record temperature was set for Rome on Tuesday with high of 87 degrees. The previous record was 86 degrees set in 1959. The average temperature for early April is 70 degrees.

Rome Braves Fans were treated to an evening team workout on Tuesday. Crowds enjoyed much warmer temps this year compared to the team workout preview last year when fans had to come bundled up for chilly weather. The home opener is nine days away on Friday, April 16. -GA DOT crews are beginning work on U.S. Highway 41 to build turning lanes in the Southbound lanes. Work starts at the Cobb County line in Acworth and goes to roadway near Cartersville Medical Center. No completion date has been set, but one lane should always be open for travel.> WBEF

-Benefit Concert-Hope for Haiti will be Saturday, April 11 at 6 p.m. at The Grand Theatre. Choruses from all over Bartow County will perform gospel selections. Tickets are $15 and a love offering will be collected. All proceeds benefit Haiti Disaster Relief.

-Berry College welcomes a Yerkes Primate Center Researcher, Dr. Frans de Waal for Oxbridge Lecture Series on April 7 at 7 p.m. in the Berry College Science Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public> Oxbridge
