Work on new Steak N Shake to begin within days

-With permits just about wrapped up and a fresh design concept in hand, look for work on the new Steak N Shake to rise on the Johnny Carino's site on Turner McCall to begin with a few days.

-Developer Wayne Robinson, who's in a partnership with Brook Temple on the project, says the Rome location will be the second store overall to feature the new restaurant design.

-The new shops are 3,200 square feet. "Dining areas will be visible from outside thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass, while lifesize classic photos showing Steak n Shake's history will adorn the rest of the structures," according to a story in the Indianapolis Business Journal (click).

-One change: Look for Steak N Shake to open by early fall and not the tentative July date.

-Even more pizza on the way to Cartersville, metro Atlanta> Marco's

-Later today: Latest public health restaurant inspection scores.

Cartersville launches Citizen Request Tracker--and there's an app for that, too.

(Media Release) The City of Cartersville is proud to announce, after a successful trial period, the launching of the web-based Citizen Request Tracker. Located on the city's website at www.cityofcartersville.org, this tool gives citizens the opportunity to report issues wherever and whenever they like, eliminating a trip or call to the local government office. From code enforcement concerns to re-zoning applications, individuals can make a variety of requests through the City's website; in the event a request category is not available, citizens can even make new recommendations. Once submitted, the item goes directly to the appropriate City staff member who can work to meet the needs of the specific request. The progress of the item can then be tracked online by the submitting individual.  Furthermore, the Citizen Request Tracker iPhone App is available, allowing citizens to submit photos of their issues from their iPhones. This can be downloaded from Apple App Store (Click).  The iPhone GPS technology also automatically pinpoints the address of the issue. Over 580 cities and counties are using the Citizen Request Tracker technology provided by CivicPlus. The City of Cartersville is continually seeking ways to improve communication and efficiency internally and within the community; this is a tool the City believes will do an outstanding job with both.
