April 21: Cartersville Fire Department and the Bartow Department will be hosting the Firefighter/Explorer Competition at the Clarence Brown Center

 
  

Media release: City of Cartersville and Bartow County Fire Departments to host a Firefighter/Explorer Competition at the Clarence Brown Conference Center, April 21, 2012, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

 

The Cartersville Fire Department and the Bartow Department will be hosting the Firefighter/Explorer Competition at the Clarence Brown Center on April 21, 2012. The event will start at 9:00 a.m. and will last until around 3:00 p.m. This event is being hosted as part of the Northwest Georgia Fire Chief's Association (NGFCA) tour of Firefighter/Explorer competitions in an effort to raise money to support continued fire Service education in Northwest Georgia. The NGFCA will also be sponsoring events in Dawsonville and Catoosa County in May and June of this year.

 

The competition will be a combination of Firefighter and Explorer teams competing for time and accuracy in a variety of hose evolutions and drills, such as the Bucket Brigade and Busted Hose replacement drill.  In addition to the Firefighter and Explorer teams competing at drills, there will be Fire and EMS equipment on display, a raffle and concessions.  This is a family event and the public is welcomed and encouraged to attend.  There is no charge to attend.

 

The Northwest Ga. Fire Chief's Association is an organization consisting of Fire Service leaders throughout Northwest Georgia that was formed with the goal of achieving excellence in fire department management and outstanding firefighter performance.
