Emergency Forest Restoration Program activated by Jan. 30 Tornado

(Media Release) The Farm Service Agency has been approved to begin taking applications, under the Emergency Forest Restoration Program, from private forest land owners in Bartow and Gordon Counties that suffered qualifying losses in the January 30, 2013 tornado that hit the Counties.  Eligible land under this program must have been nonindustrial private forest (NIPF) that had existing tree cover or had tree cover immediately before the tornado occurred and is suitable for growing trees and be owned by any nonindustrial private individual, group, association, corporation, or other private legal entity, that has definitive decision-making authority over the land.

In addition, the natural disaster must have resulted in damage that if untreated would impair or endanger the natural resources on the land and materially affect future use of the land.   Due to this program not being considered an entitlement program you must have at least $2,000.00 in qualifying damage to be eligible.  Signup will begin on February 18, 2013 and will end on Friday, March 15, 2013.
