Steve Stewart to run for Bartow County Tax Commissioner

Media release: Steve Stewart will seek election to the office of Bartow County Tax Commissioner. Mr. Stewart will qualify as a Republican candidate for the July 31 Primary Election. A lifelong resident of Bartow County, Steve has served Bartow County as the Projects and Facilities Manager for twenty-five years. "I have the utmost respect for Tax Commissioner VaLenda Bailey and the current staff in her office. Bartow County has been in good hands under VaLenda's leadership. With her decision to retire, I have chosen to further serve my community. I am humbled to have the opportunity to seek election as Bartow County Tax Commissioner, and will work hard to serve the people of this great county."

Steve Stewart is an active member of the Bartow County Community. He has been a member of the Elks #1969 for twenty years. In addition, Steve is Co-Chair of the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament Committee, he currently serves on the Bartow County Committee for Relay for Life, and the Bartow County Committee for the March of Dimes. Steve is a member of the Encourage Kids to Greatness Program and has served as a member of the chain crew for Adairsville High School Football for fifteen years.

Some of Steve's past involvement includes, Board Member of the Cartersville Country Club, Mentor at Cloverleaf Elementary School, member of the Cartersville Exchange Club and member of the Library Building Committee.

Steve, whose father was an Air Force veteran of both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam, learned at an early age the importance of community service. Included in his role in the Commissioner's office, Steve also serves as Public Service Representative and Record Retention Manager. Steve has been an important part of many current facilities in Bartow County. These include the Frank Moore Administration and Judicial Building, the Bartow County Jail, both Senior Citizens Centers, the Health Department, 1903 Historical Courthouse, the Compactor Sites, the Clarence Brown Conference Center, the new Fire Station facilities, the new Georgia State Patrol Post, the Driver's License Expansion, the upcoming Fire and EMS Headquarters located on Felton Road.

Steve is a graduate of Cass High School and attended Hiawassee Jr. College and Middle Tennessee State University before he began his years of service to Bartow County. He and his wife Connie live in Adairsville where they are members of Adairsville First United Methodist Church. They have two grown children, Elliott and Erynn who are both attending college.
