The Bartow County Sheriff's Office has arrested a local man and woman in
connection with a man found dead in Emerson Sunday.
According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, Bartow County Sheriff's
Investigators initially assisted Emerson Police and the Georgia Bureau
of Investigations with the finding of 47 year old Danny Lamar Gravely
Sunday morning in the bed of his truck in Emerson on Red Top Road. The
agencies involved did not believe that the incident had taken place at
the same location. Late Monday, investigators learned that Gravely had
died from a single gunshot wound to his head. It was also discovered
that Gravely had been last seen at his residence on Dogwood Place in
Bartow County on Saturday night. Searches of that property yielded
evidence that pointed to the murder having occurred at the residence.
This morning B.C.S.O. investigators, a G.B.I. agent, and Emerson Police
Chief Stan Bradley were at the Bartow County Jail when Tammy Lynn
Murphy, 50 and Steven Mark Eller, 45, both of Cartersville, were
arrested. It is believed that an argument at the residence, where the
three resided, led to the shooting.
Murphy and Eller are each charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault,
Possession of a Firearm during the Commision of a Crime, Tampering with
Evidence, and Concealing the Death of a Person. Both are being held
without bond pending a Superior Court hearing.
