The above image from Rome photographer Mills Fitzner gives you a first look at the 2009 Rome Braves, who travel to Charleston, S.C., to open the season Thursday. Below: Two fans move out from the reception area to seats in storied section 206 to watch the newly formed team practice on the field at State Mutual. Temperatures were in the mid-40s with a wind chill probably 10 degrees cooler than that Tuesday evening.

Gingrey: Government should focus first on health information technology: U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey was among panelists on a healthcare information legislative policy session. Gingrey is quoted by Healthcare IT News as saying the $22 billion earmarked for IT in the stimulus package is "a darned good start."> IT

Employment

-Another 80 Northwest Georgia workers to be idled: The HON Company layoffs, coupled with 390 Shaw employees laid off in Calhoun,  will swell already-crowded unemployment lines even more. Click HON.

-Due this week: The March first-time unemployment insurance applications from the state Department of Labor. February reports were high but also were almost half of what was recorded in January.
