Tuesday's updates

Tuesday's Buzz:

-Carmike shows red for the first quarter: With "Wolverine" slicing through a healthy opening weekend and the new spin on Star Trek due Thursday, you'd think the report from the box office would be good. It is--but it wasn't that great during the first quarter of 2009 for Carmike Cinemas. The owner of Cartersville's Carmike 12 and Martin's 3 in Calhoun reports a first-quarter loss of $4 million vs. a $4.3 million deficit a year earlier> Details

-New from the Berry -- milk: Berry College's Berry Farms is offering milk for sale. Half gallons of whole, two percent and chocolate milk as well as gallons of two percent and chocolate are on sale at Magnolia Market at 1409 Kingston Highway. Prices range from $2.89 to $5.25. We recommend the chocolate, best described as a creamier Wendy's Frosty> Magnolia Market

-MJ's Grill opens at Prime Outlets: The restaurant is next to Guest Services and Naturalizer, and features pizza, burgers, wings and grill items seven days a week. The hours: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sundays> Prime Outlets

Media:

-Trouble for the 'cut & paste' media? As Northwest Georgia's "media wars" further dissolve into a race among who can post it the fastest, this bit of real news: the city of Rome's public information officer is moving to Texas; the county's is about to start maternity leave; a key sports information director is going to grad school; and a few other changes could be around the corner. Plus, the slower summer months are almost here. Maybe it will give way to some real journalism for a change.

-Radio changes just about here: A new frequency and tower are on the way for WSRM (now 95.3 FM, soon to be 93.3 FM). The station often called "WRGA FM" will soon get a stronger signal, too.
