Dinosaur Footprints coming to Tellus Museum Friday: The Tellus Lecture Series will present "Tracking Dinosaurs Around the World" with Dr. Martin Lockley on June 4 at 7 p.m. Lockley is one of the world's top experts on dinosaur footprints and is Director of the Dinosaur Tracks Museum.  He has researched track sites across the world, from the United States to Europe and Asia, and he has written numerous books and articles on the fossil footprints he has found. The lecture is free for members and included in the cost of museum admission for non-members.

Wednesday's Buzz

-Synovus--Charter consolidation just about complete: The separate bank charters of Citizens First of Rome, GB & T of Calhoun and Cartersville, and many other Synovus holdings have all been packed into one, reports the Columbus-based bank. The exception are two Tennessee banks and consolidation is expected by the end of this month. All banks retain their current names. Click Synovus

-Peach Palace closes; will Broad Street Station open there instead? The Peach Palace at 425 Broad St. has closed after a two-year run. The owners turned in their business and alcohol licenses Tuesday, says Rome City Clerk Joe Smith. But this may not be the end for the nightspot. Smith says his office has received reports that a recently approved application for a beer/wine pouring license for Rusty Canada and Broad Street Station at 325 Broad St. (most recently McCrobie's) might be transferred to the Peach Palace location. -A day of celebration honoring the past and future of Shorter U: An evening concert and a night at the Rome Braves capped the day-long celebration as Shorter moved from college to university status. That's Dr. Harold Newman, president of Shorter, preparing to toss the ceremonial first pitch before Tuesday's game. For more on the pitch--and the switch-- please click Campus
