Cartersville's River Thai closes:  The popular Thai restaurant at 328 E. Main St. has closed. As posted on Downtown Cartersville's Facebook page: "The food at River Thai was excellent, the presentation was superb and we have lost a fabulous restaurant!"

Tennis Center of Georgia grows again; now at 82 courts

-Already imagined as the  largest tennis center in the United States, the newly Tennis Center of Georgia at Berry College has grown from 74 courts to a proposed 82 courts. The Rome News reports the price tag has grown as well, now to nearly $18.7 million. And still left up in the air: how to pay for it.

-The Convention and Visitors Bureau has released the nearly four-minute animation that takes visitors on a tour of the proposed tennis complex. It will be augmented by a voice over being done by Bob Berry, which is in production. It also features an introduction from Gordon Smith of Rome, above, who's the executive director and chief operating officer of the U.S. Tennis Association.

8th Rome International Film Festival is Sept. 9-10: "Spectacular independent films from the USA, Singapore, Iraq, Russia, the UK, Australia and Taiwan" already have been submitted for review and the deadline for entires still have more than two months to go.
