2010 Census and what's ahead
-Georgia's U.S. House delegation to increase to 14 seats?
A report highlighted on the Campaigns & Elections Web site shows Georgia will add a 14th seat in the House during reapportionment following the 2010 Census. The question is: where will it go? There's talk of a "north metro" push, perhaps drawing counties from the 11th and Ninth congressional districts. Floyd, Bartow, Chattooga and Polk counties are in the 11th district as is part of Gordon, all represented by Phil Gingrey. The remainder is in Republican Nathan Deal's Ninth District> Report
-Speaking of the Census, t-minus a year or so: With Census Day set for April 1, 2010, some 140,000 census workers will soon be "walking every street in the nation to make sure all living quarters are in the Census Bureau address database," according to the 2010 Census Web site.
