House District 14 candidates dominate Floyd Republican Women's forum

-The first forum of the 2010 election season gave Floyd County voters a chance to meet the three Republicans running for the state House seat that includes a third of this county, the east side, and a large part of Bartow. Out takes:

June 5/'A Day for Democrats' to feature 17 local, state candidates: The Floyd County Democratic Party's "A Day for Democrats" is set for Jackson Hill/Rome Civic Center from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Among the candidates scheduled to attend are gubernatorial hopefuls. The event is free; a southern fried chicken picnic luncheon will be on sale with booths selling drinks. VIP tables are available for $200 and seat eight people. The cost covers lunch and reserved parking.

Graves named in $2.2 million suit filed by Bartow County Bank

-Tom Graves, who's in the June 8 runoff for a congressional seat representing parts of Gordon County and Northeast Georgia, is named in a $2.2 million suit filed by Bartow County Bank. The bank is represented by Rome's Ed Hine Jr.

-The suit names TICH Hospitality LLC (click) as well as John T. Graves Jr. (Tom Graves) and William M. Rogers IV (Sen Chip Rogers) as those who sought the loan for a real estate deal.

-Runoff opponents: Graves, a former state representative from Ranger who finished in first place in the May 11 special election for the Ninth Congressional District seat, faces Gainesville's Lee Hawkins in the June 8 runoff. The winner fills the unexpired term of Nathan Deal, who resigned to run for governor.
