The band gained national attention when it toured with Dolly Parton in 2004. The Grascals released a three-song single EP in late 2004 and their self-titled debut in 2005. Long List of Heartaches arrived in the summer of 2006, followed by Keep on Walkin' in 2008. Ace banjo player Kristin Scott Benson joined the group for its fourth album, The Famous Lefty Flynn's, which appeared in 2010. Whether being light-hearted and jovial or soul-searching and reflective, The Grascals are at the very top of their game with Their last four CDs reaching the top of the Billboard bluegrass charts. Though it is stillat least in bluegrass termsa new group, the web of friendships, band memberships, recordings and personal appearances that binds The Grascals together has produced an ensemble of unsurpassed cohesion and focused artistic direction. Whether in the studio or on stage, The Grascals honor the past and forge into the future, bringing fresh yet familiar sounds to the bluegrass world and beyond.
