The Cartersville Police Department is in the process of developing a qualified applicant pool for use in filling open police officer positions which may become available within the next six months. The first phase of the recruiting effort will be a combination written and video examination to be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 8:30am at the Public Safety Headquarters located at 195 Cassville Road in Cartersville. The testing will be limited to 25 candidates. The test will last approximately three hours.
In order to test for the position of Police Officer, all applicants must download and complete the application package which can be found at www.cartersvillepolice.com under the Employment Opportunities section. Interested candidates may also pick up a copy of the application package at the Police Department located at 195 Cassville Road in Cartersville. Completed application packages must be turned in to the Police Department no later than Monday, August 12, 2013. Applicants must have submitted a complete application package in order to test. A complete package consists of the application itself as well as all of the other requested documentation outlined in the package.
There are many factors that will determine if an individual is qualified to serve with the Department. However, some of the minimum requirements are:
· At least 21 years of age
· High School diploma or GED (college is preferred)
· Has not applied with the Department within the past year
· No felony arrests in lifetime
· No misdemeanor arrests in the last 10 years
· No recreational drug usage in past 5 years
· Must pass a polygraph test, a psychological evaluation, a drug screen, a physical agility test, and a physical exam.
· No driver's license suspensions in last 10 years
· No citations or arrests for DUI, Fleeing and Eluding, or Reckless Driving.

Interested applicants must register for the exam no later than Monday, August 12, 2013 by calling Captain Mark Camp at 770-607-6212. Those applicants registered for the test will be sent information about the testing procedures and what is covered in the test.
