Significant flash flooding and river flooding possible now-Friday

-Flash Flood Watch in effect 8 a.m. Wednesday through 8 a.m. Friday.
-Latest estimates of 2.5 to 4 inches of rain expected, up to 8 inches possible.

-Where is rain coming from?
A plume of rich, tropical moisture will spread west across the state and persist over the area Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms.


-Timing:
Most likely time for flooding to begin is between 3-9 p.m. tonight.

Independence Day washout?
-Stars, Stripes and Cartersville still 'a-go' for Thursday. A decision on the parade will be made by 6 a.m.  -As of Tuesday afternoon, Rome's Fourth of July fireworks celebration at Ridge Ferry Park will still go on as planned.
-Calhoun has canceled their Star-Spangled Celebration for Thursday and postponed their fireworks until Sept. 7 for the start of the Northwest Georgia Regional Fair.
