Keep an eye on two key indicators do within the week:

-The first: The state's January revenue report. Dick Pettys of Insider Advantage Georgia writes: "Word is, they're bad; some reports suggest they could show the worst monthly drop in state history." December collections were down nearly 9 percent from 12 months earlier.> Click

-The second: January first-time unemployment benefits filings. The state Labor Department should have hard numbers out by Thursday. Statewide, December claims were 174 percent higher than December 2007.

New look coming to the AJC's print editions:

Amid a flurry of delivery and staffing changes comes another new twist from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: a promo on the media giant's new AJC Media Solutions Web site includes a teaser about a new look for the newspaper. Heavy on color, a different layout and new-age design. Gone--at least from the frame grab above--is the familiar AJC nameplate. Click Solutions

Chronicle: WingsAir cuts Macon, Athens service; Gwinnett still flying: The air carrier interested in bringing Rome-to-Atlanta service to Richard B. Russell Airport has cut operations, citing demand, and reduced its staff, reports the Business Chronicle. We have calls into operations chief Robbie Rupard. Our local insider says the Rome connection "ain't gonna happen."
