-Shorter professors, area bankers assess stimulus, housing, what's next: In vivid detail mixed with local analysis, two Shorter College business professors and two local bankers took Rome Seven Hills Rotary Club members on a tour of today's economy and what could be ahead. Said Shorter's Dub Darville: "What we need to look at is what we are trying to stimulate. -Pearle closing Mount Berry Square location Feb. 14, Cartersville site OK: After 17 years, Pearle Vision is closing at Mount Berry Square on Saturday, Feb. 14. The chain is leaving Rome altogether; the Pearle store in the Wal-Mart/Lowe's center off Ga. 20 in Cartersville remains open, however. Click Pearle

-Mohawk Industries buys Wear-Dated: Calhoun's Mohawk Industries has purchased Wear-Dated fiber brand from Solutia. The deal excludes the Ultron fiber brand which remains part of Solutia> Floorbiz.

Advocates for Children plan a busy spring of fund-raising: The postcard nails the message immediately-- "Today they need you more than ever ... Save the dates. Safe a life. Make a difference." With that, Advocates for Children (www.advochild.org) lists highlights of spring fund-raising activities, many based on the annual Duck Season. Those events and the dates:

-March 28: Spring Benefit Fundraiser at Tellus.

-April 18: Duck Derby Kickoff Parade, downtown Cartersville.

-May 15: Duck Derby Concert, Riverside Park, Cartersville

-May 16: Duck Dash 5K, Cartersville Soccer Complex
