(Media release) The Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce is partnering with a variety of community organizations to assist residents who are without jobs. Bartow Together: Re-Employment Resources Expo is planned for Tuesday, March 17, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Cartersville First Baptist Church. There is no charge for the event, which is open to all Bartow County job seekers. Please note: This is not a job fair.

An abundance of information will be shared on fine tuning job search skills and developing new ones. Workshops will be offered throughout the day and will include resume writing and enhancement, interviewing, finances, the importance of networking, utilizing internet resources, transitioning into a new career, tips on how to remain positive and much more.

Additionally, representatives from a variety of local resource organizations will be on hand to answer questions and speak with attendees one-on one. These include, Bartow County Health Department, United Way, Tallatoona CAP, the Bartow County Library, Department of Labor and more.

Representatives from Georgia Highlands College and North Metro Technical College will discuss programs and continued education that they offer, as well as free Work Ready assessments.

The preliminary December unemployment rate for Bartow County was 9.3 percent, and the number of the unemployed in Bartow County has been on the rise since January 2008. Because of these historically high numbers, the Chamber of Commerce, Department of Labor and Cartersville First Baptist Church have initiated the organization of an expo to assist the residents of Bartow County.

For more information about Bartow Together: Resource Re-Employment Expo, please contact Tara Currier at the Chamber of Commerce at 770-382-1466.
