Media updates: A day of changes with more to come

>WRGA, Q102 sell for $2.65 million: The sale file submitted to the Federal Communication Commission shows Rome Radio Partners are paying $2.65 million to Paul Stone for WRGA 1470 AM and Q102 FM. It is believed the FM signal commanded the higher end of the price given the size of the market and overall ratings. You'll find exhaustive detail on the purchase by clicking> FCC

>Big changes for two 'old media' rivals on same day: You have to appreciate the irony. Just hours after the Rome News hit the on button for www.rn-t.com--designed to be the newspaper's saving grace-- the community learned of the sale of WRGA 1470 AM, the paper's one-time arch-rival, and Q102 FM to Rome Radio Partners LLC, whose investors include longtime Southern Broadcasting executive Randy Quick.

>The shape of today's advertising? Blogs that take businesses straight to the customer: More and more advertisers in Northwest Georgia are turning to blogs as a way to get right to the customer. The latest is Slope's Barbecue in Cartersville near the Carmike 12 theaters. Slope's already has an aggressive e-mail marketing campaign and has added a blog with regular updates (click Slopes). The main obstacle is getting the customer to the blog those first few times. That's how traditional and new media might play a limited role.

-And what about Facebook? This release arrived Monday via the social media network: Thrive store grand opening set for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18: The store is part of the revamped Armuchee Village community at 3345 Martha Berry Highway. Thrive founder Travis Martin is scheduled to attend.

Tryouts tonight for Shakespear in Hollywood

Gingrey on Gates' F-22 cuts--'extremely disappointing': U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey said of Secretary Gates decision to purchase four additional F-22s, produced in Cobb County: "Secretary Gates's announcement that he will only seek an additional four F-22 Raptors as part of the next supplemental is extremely disappointing.  This decision puts both American national and economic security at risk. It will leave the Air Force woefully short of its validated requirement needed to combat potential threats."> Gingrey
