Richardson resignation puts spotlight on Loudermilk: With House Speaker Glenn Richardson's resignation announcement Thursday, rumors and guestimates hit the political Web sites pretty quickly. One name that popped up as a future speaker of the House: state Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Cassville. The buzz started Thursday on the political web site Peach Pundit. Loudermilk is in the middle of his third term representing District 14, which includes Bartow and part of Floyd County. Loudermilk quickly made friends with House conservatives but probably is too "new" for the job. His name comes up often as a down-the-road candidate for state Senate or U.S. House.
