Cartersville water, sewer line projects to require some road closings

(Media release) The City of Cartersville Water Department has a couple of water and sewer line projects currently taking place that will involve the closing of some roads. First, the old sewer main is being replaced under the Church Street bridge.
-Tomorrow the intersection of Church Street and Gilmer Street will be closed so they can replace two man holes.

Second is the storm drain improvement and sewer line replacement taking place on
Johnson Street  then Wells Street. This is a four to five week project.

Johnson Street will be closed to thru traffic while construction is taking place;
Wells Street will not be closed to thru traffic until Johnson Street is complete.

Residents on  Johnson Street have been notified regarding the construction and those located on
Wells Street will be contacted when the time comes.  I

f you have any questions regarding these projects please contact the Water Department at 770.387.5653.

-Then on Sunday, the section of  Church Street under the bridge will be closed for just a few hours starting around 8 AM.  Cars will not be able to turn onto Church Street from  Gilmer Street  but they will have access to  useum Drive
-This will make it possible to get around the closed area.  The affected businesses have been notified, however, since most are closed on Sunday, this should cause very little inconvenience to the businesses downtown.
