Advocates for Children's Polar Plunge on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m.

Media release: Plans are firming up for Advocates for Children's Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 11 at 10 a.m.

Organized and sponsored by Georgia Power's Plant Bowen, and co-sponsored by Strategic Contract Resources, this COOL fundraiser will warm your heart, but probably not your nose and toes. A number of local celebrities have already committed to be part of the fun, and their friends and coworkers are raising money to see them jump. They include Ladonna Jordan, Principal Ken McKenzie, Coach Frank Barden, Susan Simonton, Rev. Mike Morgan, and many more. Come out to the pool at Dellinger Park and cheer them on, or plan to jump yourself—you don't need to be a celebrity to be part of the fun.

Quacky will be there, and rumor has it there will also be a Penguin in the audience as well.

Jumpers need to raise a minimum of $100 for the "privilege" of jumping ($50 for students).

Challenge your friends or teammates to join you, or "pool" your funds to make your boss do the jumping.

The prizes: Prizes will be given for the Best Costume, Best Jump, and Most Money raised. The only rule is "No Wetsuits and No Birthday Suits!" Everyone who jumps will receive a commemorative beach towel.

Registration forms may be found at AdvoChild.org, and registrations will be accepted at Flowering Branch Children's Shelter on Thursday, February 9 from 4-7 p.m. On-site registration will also be available at the event.

All proceeds support the many Child Abuse prevention and support programs of Advocates for Children, including Flowering Branch Shelter, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Rainbows, A Better Way Children's Advocacy Center, First Steps, TransParenting, Safe Place and the Family Visitation/ Parenting program.

Visit the AdvoChild.org or call 770-387-1143 for more information.
