Melba Scoggins to seek the office of Clerk of Superior Court

Media release: Melba Scoggins formally announces today that she will seek election to the office of Clerk of Superior Court. Mrs. Scoggins has twenty-seven years of hands-on experience serving the people of Bartow County as Criminal and Jury Clerk, supervising all criminal and court proceedings.

Though Mrs. Scoggins's experience and attention to detail are to her credit, she also prides herself on customer service. To many citizens serving as jurors, Melba is often considered the familiar face of the clerk's office. Former Clerk of Court, Tish Johnson, had this to say, "I worked with Melba Scoggins for many years, and I have enormous respect for her. Melba's strong work ethic, broad skills and experience will make her an outstanding Clerk of Court."

Melba and her husband Myron have lived in Rydal for the past thirty years. There, they are members of Pleasant Olive Baptist Church. Myron is a fireman with the City of Cartersville and also owns Scoggins Custom Cabinets. Melba and Myron have two adult daughters. Morgan Scoggins King, married to Mack King, is a Pre-K teacher at Pine Log Elementary School. Younger daughter, Mallory, is a student at Kennesaw State University. Melba is a member of the Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer with Relay for Life.

Scoggins stated, "I am very excited about the opportunity to further serve the people of Bartow County. My experience offers me a unique perspective as a candidate for Clerk of Court. I am keenly aware of the duties required to run the Clerk's office in an efficient and fiscally responsible manner. I will work hard to serve the people of Bartow County." Melba will qualify as a Republican for the July 31 primary election.
