Media release: Booth Western Art Museum Executive Director Seth Hopkins has been honored by the Rotary Club of Bartow County for the 2013 W. Lee Arrendale Award of Vocational Excellence.

Hopkins is the Executive Director of Georgia Museums, Inc. and Director of Booth Western Art Museum. Prior to entering the museum profession, Hopkins worked in the fields of journalism, public relations, and telecommunications management. Hired in 2000 to establish the Booth Museum, Hopkins' drive, leadership capabilities and ensuing success, positioned him to take on more responsibility as executive director of Georgia Museums, Inc. Under Hopkins vision and leadership, Georgia Museums has grown to be an important cultural leader in Georgia, encompassing over 250,000 sq. ft. of world-class museum space. His leadership has defined and impacted the community in a significant way. Last year alone, these museums served over 258,000 visitors including school children from all over Northwest Georgia.  Both Booth and Tellus were each awarded the exclusive distinction of Smithsonian Institution Affiliation.

Hopkins currently serves as President of Museums West Consortium; an organization made up of 13 Western art museums in North America and is frequently called upon to speak at other institutions and jury art exhibitions. Hopkins was honored in September 2010 with the Kennesaw State University Flourish Award as Outstanding Arts Leader. In September 2012, Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau awarded Hopkins the Economic Development Leadership Award. He has been a Rotarian for the past 19 years in three different clubs and currently serves as the Program Chair for the Rotary Club of Bartow County.

Hopkins won the award from the club, and will also go on to compete for the award with other club Rotarians at the district level.  The W. Lee Arrendale Award for Vocational Excellence is one of the highest awards presented annually by Rotary District 6910. It recognizes the importance of service of the individual to society through excellence in one's vocation while promoting the high ethical standard of "Service Above Self."   The Bartow County Rotary Club meets every Thursday at 12:15 p.m. at the Cartersville Country Club.
