Gas prices haven't been this high since election week last November:

This price tracker from Georgia Gas Prices shows how price fell last fall but started to inch upward after Christmas. The red line tracks U.S. averages; the blue line, Georgia prices.

Georgia's average cost per gallon of unleaded gasoline continues to rise as fast as the temperature. As of today, prices are at a level, $2.42 a gallon, last seen on Nov. 1. Prices have jumped about 44 cents in the last month but remain far below the $3.95 we paid a year ago. "The current retail price trend has been pushed by refinery reductions, crude and wholesale price increases, but not by consumer demand," said Gregg Laskoski of AAA Auto Club South. "On May 1, the national average price of gasoline was 45-cents per gallon less than it is today. Even the most bullish of analysts would have to expect the rate of (retail gasoline) price increases to slow down in coming weeks since all rallies come to an end.">  Georgia Gas Prices

>On the road: Again, prices are soaring just as North Georgians hit the road for summer vacation. One qualifier: Prices were in the $2.40 range across the northern part of the state on Tuesday (Rome to Dahlonega). Usually Rome prices are higher than Calhoun, Cartersville and other areas.
