-'Too Hot to Cook' benefit for commission on kids is Aug. 25: Fourteen area restaurants are taking part in the Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth's second "Too Hot to Cook" fund-raiser all day on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The restaurants are donating a portion of their revenue that day to the commission. All genres are taking part, from barbecue to Italian to hometown favorites. July home sales up 17 % from June, 6% from July 2008: Home sales hit 74 in the month of July, up 17 percent from the previous month and a healthy 6 percent from July 2008, according to the Greater Rome Board of Realtors.
