Weather: Northwest GA under Heat Advisory

-Heat Advisory issued for 8 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Advisory

-Tuesday: High of 96, low of 74. 20% rain chance. Heat index of 106.

-Wednesday: High of 98, low of 75. 20% rain change. Heat index of 108.

Politics:

-Local elections officials are surprised by the high turnout from first day of advanced voting. Bartow County Elections Supervisor, Joseph Kirk says about 100 voted on Monday. "That was higher than expected for the first day. I anticipate about a 10% turnout. The local race for District 14 will be driving a lot of folks to vote," he says.

-Advance voting continues through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Bartow County Annex Building, 105 N. Bartow St., or Cartersville Civic Center, 435 W. Main St. Overall primary runoff ballot

-Karen Handel, GOP candidate for Governor, will be making a stop in Rome on Friday as part of her bus tour. Handel, who is in a runoff with Nathan Deal for the GOP bid for Governor, is scheduled to be at parking lot beside Great Harvest Bread Company from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

-GOP rally planned for August 14 at Richard B. Russell Airport in Rome. Details

City of Cartersville's Fire Hydrant Testing locations: Aug. 3-5 and Aug. 9-10

The Booth Artists Guild meets today at 6:00 pm at the Teacher Resource Center, 1 North Gilmer Street in Cartersville. Artist Nikki Davidson will teach how to paint water. Through demonstration, Nikki will share some of her own techniques.
