Booth Photography Guild Opens Biennial Exhibition

Booth Western Art Museum is pleased to announce the opening of the Booth Photography Guild Biennial Exhibition on September 13. Comprised of photography enthusiasts from around Northwest Georgia, the Booth Photography Guild (BPG) meets monthly for educational opportunities and programming related to photography. This is the first juried exhibition the Guild has had since its inception last fall, and will be on view in the Borderlands Gallery through November 13.

"Founded in October 2010, the Booth Photography Guild is intended for photographers of all levels and experience," said Booth Photography Guild President Lynn Henderson. "We meet once per month for a program which ranges from critique sessions, to guest speakers, to workshops. Additionally the guild organizes special photography outings to practice shooting. We have been pleased with our success thus far and with the 81 members who have joined BPG since we were founded. We look forward to showcasing our work in the Booth Photography Guild Biennial Exhibition."

More than 250 photographs by members of BPG were submitted for consideration for the exhibition. An anonymous judge was asked to select the top 50 photographs, which will be included in the exhibit. Visitors to the Booth will see a wide range of black and white and color photography including landscapes, people, abstract, and more.

An Exhibition Opening Reception for members and guests will be held on Saturday, September 17, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, in the Borderlands Gallery. The event is free for Booth Museum members and included with admission for not-yet members. At 4:00 pm, an awards presentation will take place, and the judge of the exhibition will discuss her criteria for selecting the images she did in the Booth Theatre.

The Booth Photography Guild is open to anyone interested in photography, no matter their skill level. Membership is $24 per year, in addition to a current Booth Museum membership. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 7:00-9:00 pm, at Booth Art Academy located in the Teacher Resource Center at 1 North Gilmer Street in Cartersville.
