Cartersville Police Department working homicide which occurred last night.

(Media Release) Chief Thomas N. Culpepper of the Cartersville Police Department advises that Department Investigators are investigating a homicide Sunday night in Cartersville.  Officers were dispatched to the Sun-Glo Car Wash on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at approximately 11:08 p.m. in reference to a call about a man lying in the car wash next to a pickup truck.

When officers arrived, they discovered Mr. Randal Statler, Jr., 28, of Cartersville was deceased.  The investigation led officers to believe that the deceased had been the victim of a robbery. It appeared that Mr. Statler had been shot one time.  Mr. Statler had apparently been "mudding" earlier with family members and had come to the Car Wash to wash the mud off of his pickup truck.

It is unknown how much if any money had been taken.  There are no suspects at this time.  Chief Culpepper stated, "We have had several officers and investigators working on this unfortunate incident throughout the night. "

The investigation is continuing.
