Chattahoochee Tech in the Top 100 List for 2-Year Colleges

Media Release- Chattahoochee Technical College was recently named to the list of the Top 100 certificate-producing institutions in the United States among more than 1,800 two-year colleges that conferred such awards during the 2012-2013 academic year. Ranking 25 out of the top 100, Georgia's largest technical college is one of three Georgia colleges to rank in the top 30.

The rankings are determined by Community College Week magazine each year. The magazine is published biweekly, and its readers include college presidents, chief academic officers, faculty, student-service professionals, librarians and other educators. Features of the magazine include analyses of critical academic trends and issues, vital statistics and technology updates.

This year's report places Chattahoochee Technical College at 25th in the nation in all disciplines represented among certificates offered and taking one year or less to complete. The college awarded 1,721 technical certificates of credit in fiscal year 2013 in such areas Healthcare Science, Business and Technical Studies and the popular Technical Specialist Program. Bolstered by articulation agreements with Georgia's public and private colleges and universities, Chattahoochee Technical College's Technical Specialist Program offers students the opportunity to study 36 hours of general education courses that transfer to four-year institutions, as well as several introductory occupational courses.

A Technical Certificate of Credit is designed to meet a specific educational need to prepare students, or to update their skills, for the workforce. Ranging from 9-39 credit hours required for completion, some certificates may be embedded in the coursework for the degree or diploma. Technical certificates of credit may require any combination of general education, occupational courses, and/or approved elective courses.

Chattahoochee Technical College also ranked in two of the publication's lists of associate degree rankings. The college ranked 44th in the top 50 Associate Degree Producers in the areas of Communications Technology, Technicians and Support Services. It was the only college in Georgia to make the list. In the Top 50 Associate Degree Producing Colleges in the area of Sales, Merchandising and Marketing, Chattahoochee Technical College ranked 19th in the nation and the top in Georgia.
