-Cartersville Kroger (51 N. Morningside Drive) to be remodeled: Bids being sought for the store's overdue refit.

-Love's Travel  South & Country Store coming to Emerson: Look for the project to rise at Exit 283 of I-75.  The project would feature more than 10,000 square feet under roof with a Subway and McDonald's planned as well. Bids are being sought. For more on the company, click Love's

-Pizza boom continues in Bartow County: Today, the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce has a ribbon cutting set for 11:30 a.m. at Hometown Pizza & Grill, 485 E. Main St. (one-time home of The Meating Place). Hometown joins the new Domino's franchises in Euharlee and Adairsville.

-State patrol drops holiday traffic death predictions--kind of. No estimates for the 78-hour Labor Day holiday travel period that begins at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at midnight Labor Day, Monday.  Even more bizarre: They release last year's stats and a cumulative report from recent years. Odd. Click

-Georgia DOT is suspending construction-related lane closures from 5 a.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Tuesday.

-Gas averaging $2.51 for a gallon of unleaded: that's up from $2.43 a year ago. Check local, regional prices. Click
